We Need Rest
God Created Rest…
A 24/7 society never stops. Is it a wonder that we’re all weary? The rhythm of work and rest is foundational to our being. God’s creative purpose reveals his intentions for us; and rest is the icing on the cake. Take time to rest, rejuvenate, and relax after you work. Rest powers us up to move again and provides us space to receive the love of God.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
God Rested and He Provides for Your Rest
God is your Creator. He is also your provider. Do you work yourself to the bone because you feel like you are the one in charge of your destiny? It’s not true. You have a provider in heaven who is looking out for you.
“If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly; then you shall take delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” –Isaiah 58: 13,14
Life Application:
Schedule a day of rest into your calendar this week. Commit to one day to rest, relax, and contemplate what God is doing in your life. Trust him for his provision, and see what he will do.
