How Will They Hear?

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

Romans 10:14

We bring Scriptural truths to the public so those who wouldn’t normally encounter the Word of God can hear and believe.

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

Isaiah 55: 10,11

Speaking Truth From the Mountaintops

When Jesus Christ walked on earth, everything he did revealed God to us in so many ways. When we read the gospels with an ear for what he said, and also an eye for what he did—we get a picture of a robust ministry that was so strong, it launched a church that has been growing for over two thousand years.

The Modern Ministry of Christ

In the gospels, the ministry of Christ manifested in many forms. Four are described below. As we proceed with our own ministry, it’s important to keep all of these in mind—because a combination of all four provides us with the richest model for growth.

Discipling New Believers

The disciples did life and ministry with Jesus. First watching the Son of God and learning from him; and later practicing and being sent out on their own—they were transformed from learners to leaders. We are not Christ, so as we practice discipleship, we point one another to follow him.

Acts of Service

Serving the Poor, Hungry, and Broken

As Jesus walked through communities with his disciples, they healed, helped, and fed people—even casting out demons. Today, the church is still helping people all over the world serving people on an individual level and organizational level.

Church

Worshiping Together

Jesus participated in the Synagogue, which ministered redemption through teaching, worship, and sacrifice—looking forward in faith to the redemption of God. The modern church is similar, ministering redemption to all of those who come in its doors, with one major difference—we look backward in time to what has already been done! We can see the accomplishment of our redemption in Christ; and live in the reality of his grace daily.

Jesus Teaching

Public Teaching

Often Jesus spoke on the mountaintops. This was the normal avenue of communicating with the public in his day. He used his platform to teach everyone who would listen the life-giving teaching they needed. He didn’t wait for people to come to the synagogues—he went out to them. And in doing so, changed the world. Marketing and advertising is the normal mode of communicating with the public in our day. We’re using cost effective means to bring beautiful Scriptural truths to as many people as possible.
